Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 3 September 2026: The Abu Dhabi Awards Meylas today hosted a one-on-one conversation titled Giving: A Legacy Rooted in Our Heritage as part of the Abu Dhabi Awards’ participation in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) 2026, held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Featuring Abu Dhabi Awards recipient Dr. Jayanti Maitra, an Indian historian and researcher recognised for her decades-long contribution to documenting and preserving the UAE’s history, the conversation drew on her extensive knowledge of the nation’s cultural development. She explored how the values of goodness and giving have long been embedded in Emirati culture and traditions, while highlighting the continued role of solidarity, mutual support, tolerance, hospitality and responsibility towards others in supporting the UAE’s social and economic development.

The session formed part of the Abu Dhabi Awards’ participation in ADIHEX 2026 under the theme “Goodness Is a Living Heritage,” highlighting how the values that have shaped Emirati society continue to live through people’s actions, choices and contributions to the community.

About the Abu Dhabi Awards

The Abu Dhabi Awards is a government initiative held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. Established in 2005, the Award honours inspiring individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to supporting others, while contributing to the betterment of the UAE community.

Open to people from all around the UAE, the Award invites members of the community to nominate those inspiring individuals regardless of their age, nationality, or occupation. This includes UAE citizens, residents, or non-residents whose good deeds have positively impacted the UAE. One nomination is all it takes for an individual to be considered for an Abu Dhabi Award.

For the past 20 years, the Award has celebrated the values of giving and goodness within the UAE community, honouring to date 100 individuals from 18 different nationalities.

Nominations are open throughout the year, offering the public a continuous opportunity to recognise and highlight those inspiring individuals. To nominate someone, or to learn more about the Abu Dhabi Awards, please visit the official website: www.abudhabiawards.ae
